Firefox Ctrl+Tab

Alt+Tab is a relatively little known keyboard shortcut in Windows allowing you to switch between open Windows. It’s quite useful when you just can’t be bothered to use the mouse or the taskbar is playing up or has disappeared. What even fewer people know is that Firefox has a Ctrl+Tab shortcut letting you switch between tabs quickly. It’ll cycle through all the tabs.

I came across an extension today which changes the behavior of Ctrl+Tab in Firefox. It replaces it with an overlay where you can see each of the open web pages quickly – similar to what Vista and Xgl/Compiz do in their Alt+Tab implementations. It doesn’t have the same swish animation effects but it’s still quite nice.

Ctrl+Tab

Might have a go at adding some effects and eye candy if I have some time.
