Just a heads up for any one in the UK – many ISPs are now offering up to 8mbps through BT. Upstream also increases to 448kbps (this is the main attraction for me). You may or may not be automatically upgraded depending on your ISP. BT Broadband/BT Yahoo customers have to request an upgrade from BT which comes with an additional 12 month lock in.

The BT Wholesale Broadband website will tell you what speeds you would expect to be able to get through ADSL Max. 

I would recommend waiting for several days before upgrading to give time for other ISPs to roll out their 8mbps packages before deciding.

• If you live in urban areas, you may already be able to get 8mbps or even up to 24mbps via LLU.
