Well, we’re back and this time we’ve got some new software running on the server. Some say it looks like MediaWiki; I can however confirm now that I’m not powering a blog using wiki software. I’m using some custom software behind the scenes which I developed a year or so earlier, originally with the intention of becoming a bulletin board. It was adapted to work with Evolution 5 and is currently being used to power that. I’ve also brought it back to power my blog.
The blog components were literally developed in a few hours so it’s obviously very underpowered. Comments need to be finished off and polished. Taxonomy aka categories need to be implemented properly. The permission system needs to be finished so I can turn on the registration feature. Over the coming months I’ll be making these changes and updating the live site with these new features. I will also make posts about how the blog works. We use an object system for example – one which I originally designed for a forum.
I also plan on writing a bit more about Evolution and Mozilla Firefox extensions.
